How the Spit Braai Calculator Works

The calculator uses the same planning figures our chefs use. A whole 20 kg lamb yields about 14–16 kg of edible meat and feeds roughly 40 guests as part of a buffet with sides. We plan for about 350 g of meat per person — a safe middle point between a lighter buffet portion (300 g) and a hearty main (400 g). Cost is estimated from our real per-head packages and scales with your guest count and menu.

What affects the price

  • Menu — lamb from R110–R130 pp, mixed meat from R125–R150 pp, weddings from R150 pp.
  • Guest count — larger groups lower the per-person cost; most packages have a 25–30 guest minimum.
  • Travel — free within 30 km of Parklands; a surcharge applies further out.
  • Extras — premium sides, desserts, starters, and weekend or holiday premiums are added on top.
